Good, not amazing, but good. We shared tofu and veggies, and red curry veggies along with 2 toddlers. Staff was friendly, food was prompt.

We love this place for the food, the family ownership, the kids doing homework in the kitchen (well behaved, quiet), the atmosphere, the friendliness of the owner who knows how much to chat and how much to leave you alone, the strange good wine selection without any apparent mark up and the quick convenience. Everything I've had there has been delicious (but I've gotten stuck on the eggplant lately and I don't even like eggplant). They are one of the few places that has really good brown rice.

Five stars for their 5 star heat level. I had the Yum Woon Sen - Mixed jelly noodles with chicken, shrimp, , lime juice, chili, cashew nuts, onions, and cilantro I ordered it at the 5 star heat level and had that mouth tingling burn that could only be provided by nice fresh thai chilis chopped into the dish.

I was excited to find a Thai restaurant near my area thanks to Yelp. This place is locally owned, and the owners are very nice and friendly. You can tell that they work very hard to keep their customers happy. The place doesn't seem very busy, but they have decent tables and chairs for eating in. I ordered the red curry to-go, and it was a lot of food! The prices get a little more expensive after lunch hours, where it is usually $6.50 for red curry including rice. It came out to be $8.50 plus an additional $1.50 for white rice since I ordered very late in the afternoon. (I still don't get why they charge extra for rice. How are you suppose to eat curry without it?) You can tell that the food is very fresh, and they can make it right. I really liked the creamy flavor of the red curry. I'll come back here and try other things on the menu next time. Be sure to come here during lunch hours from 11 - 2:30pm to get a good deal for the food.

I love amorn. Great locally owned family restaurant. The only thai restaurant in the terrace as far as I know. When I first started coming here, I was worried that they did not seem busy and they wouldn't last. But I came back after doing a random yelp search and they were quite busy. Glad to see people getting out and enjoying this place. Quick, friendly service and pretty typical seattle area thai food, better than some of the strangely popular places. They put up a sign stating they will be closed from mid july - september for vacation. Just as I was looking forward to eating there more over this summer.

I used to think that some of the best Thai food for your money could be found in the U-district. Not any more... Amorn Thai's service and food was great. True, I went on a Monday evening but it was still some of the best Thai I've had in a long time. Also, the dishes we had were loaded with good meat!

I have driven by Amorn everyday for years and for unknown reasons have never stopped and ordered food. What a mistake! I was greeted right when I walked in and sat at the small bar area and ordered Pad Kee Mao for take out and a Chang Beer (Thailands most popular beer) while I waited. The man working the kitchen, bar, dining area was friendly and was really moving around to keep up with few people in the dining area. I appreciated the fact that the beer was served with an ice cold glass on the side. When I got home I poured a glass of Shiraz and dug into my food. The food was amazing. I've never ordered this dish before and it was made up of, pan fried flat noodles, chicken breast, red and green bell peppers, onions and egg all in a sweet and spicy sauce. Well seasoned and a well balanced sauce. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the chicken was of high quality, veggies were fresh and sweet. The sauce was well seasoned and balanced. I like spicy food but the *** out of ***** was really spicy. I might kick it down a notch next time but it paired very well with the Shiraz.

Amorn Thai is a terrific neighborhood family-run restaurant. The food is tasty and you always feel welcome. I'm a big fan of the Chicken Yellow Curry. The curry is topped with cashews, which is a great pairing. Other favorites are the garlic beef, and any of the noodle dishes. It is a wonderful spot close to home, that you should visit.

My husband and I have been dying to try this resturaunt out and finally got a chance to a few weeks ago. My husband just left the house to pick up an order again just now! (: The Pad see ew was different than what I have had from other places but AMAZING. I could never view this dish the same again. It was so delicious. Its one of those things you want to keep in your mouth for a while it tastes so wonderful! the red curry was spiced perfectly to my 3 star request unlike other places were you have to add more spice. The Tom Kha gai soup is to die for!!! I could eat that every day of the week. The place was very cozy and was not very busy at first but as we ate regulars streamed in by the minute. I loved that they knew their regulars. That really says a lot! Mr. Amorn even knew what they usually ordered. I'll never pay Racha prices again. If you haven't checked this place out now is the time!

I'm not really sure what this excellent Thai restaurant is doing in the wastelands of Mountlake Terrace, but I'm not asking any questions. It's run by a local Thai couple and--from what I can tell--their kids, which really gives the place a personal touch. Amorn regularly comes out to chat with us about our meal, and always seems genuine and friendly. The panang curry (well, all the curries) and the fried garlic prawns are standouts, but I've worked my way through quite a bit of the menu and it's hard to go wrong. Everything tastes fresh and authentic. Really, the only so-so thing I've ever had here was the satay, which was fine but nothing special. I tell you no lies when I say that Thai Amorn is as good as any neighborhood Thai place in Seattle. From what I can tell, they've been doing surprisingly decent business, between weekend diners and a steady stream of takeout orders, so I hope these guys make a go of it.
(4)Katharine H.
Friendly, family-run place, stellar food, nice decor inside. We love the owner. Just be careful-- he usually returns to Thailand around July for a couple months. :) A neighborhood favorite!

Oh. My. Lanta! Who knew!?!?!? Who knew that there's a super tasty Thai Restaurant nestled in the side streets of Mountlake Terrace! Well, you know now! My dinner buddy and I had just gotten back from a weekend away and wanted something quick before we went home and decided to give it a try. Boy, were we in for a treat! The owners were especially pleasant and helpful with our order. We ordered the Chicken Larb, Yellow Curry, and O Beef. The O Beef was oh . . . oh . . . . Oh . . . . OH!-a-rific! And the Yellow Curry was one of the bestest I've ever had - the potatoes were cooked perfectly and well seasoned - it wasn't too hot or too mild. The Larb had this tangy spicy bite to it that kept making me take bite after bite. Everything was surprisingly REALLY tasty and reasonably priced and I'm already looking forward to going back again soon . . . especially since their portions are so big that I get to have leftovers for lunch the next day! Woot!

Went here the other night to meet up with a friend and to try out the local thai place. A lot of good reviews on yelp, so, hey, why not see what the hype is about. First of all, this place is tucked away. I drove by it a handful of times wondering how it stays in business. I always thought it was a converted house. Anyways, it was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. There was a 2 or 3 tables at any given time. This allowed for better attention and speedier service. Their service was pretty good and we well tended to. The owner was really friendly. The food however was just okay compared to other good thai places. Portions were average and taste was varied. We had the pad thai, panang curry and pineapple fried rice. First the good things. The pineapple fried rice was very tasty and had a lot of shrimp and chicken. The pad thai and curry had a good kick to it and tasted good. The downfall was the tough beef in the curry, the lack of rice with the curry, the soft (overcooked) noodles and the presentation was a non very well executed. The prices were on par. Nothing too special about the food and service was good. I would give them a 3+ stars. I would return since this probably the only good thai food in the neighborhood.

Yum Yum Yum. I can not believe we have such a great Thai restaurant in Mountlake Terrace. I have eaten her on numerous occasions and I can honestly say this is some of the best Thai food I have ever had. The Tom Ka soup is my favorite. I have not eaten in the restaurant as I usually do take out but the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. One day I was driving past and got a craving. I stopped in and ordered my dinner and sat at the counter drinking a sake while I waited. The owners are the most pleasant people. While I sipped my sake and waited for my meal I had a wonderful conversation with the owners. I hope these guys never leave, this is the best restaurant in Mountalke Terrace and the best Thai food restaurant in the Seattle area. The portions are great and worth every penny. Thanks Amorn Thai for setting up shop here and keep up the excellent work.
(5)Brett H.
We've been coming here for 6 years and have never been disappointed. The service is friendly and quick and the food is outstanding. Pad Thai is always delicious.
(5)Eric R.
To start, I have heard great things about this place from completely different people saying I must try it. I was not disappointed but rather not as impressed as I expected to be. As far as Thai restaurants go, the scenery was pretty typical. My wife ordered the Pad Kee Mao which, when she received it, did not look or taste anything I've had at several other Thai establishments. I seemed like a completely different dish. It wasn't that bad, just not the same. I had the Pad Ka Pao which was representative of a non-noodle version of the Pad Kee Mao I've had before. That was good. The food was decent but nothing special in my opinion. The one thing that absolutely stands out about this place: the spiciness. I always order 5/5 stars wherever I go but generally get an OKAY level of spice. Here I ordered the 5/5 and they nailed it. It was hot and enjoyable; hot enough to make me slow down my eating. Another bonus is the prices are decent. Word of warning: CASH ONLY I'm sure I'll give it another shot sometime but as for now, nothing to rave about.
(3)Nikki C.
I love this place! They serve authentic thai food. This is the best thai restaurant I ever have in US so far.
(5)Savannah B.
I LOVE this place. They are 100% legit Thai - they're cash only, a 5 is wicked spicy, and they travel back home in the summer to bring back authentic spices that make their already great ingredients that much more awesome. They're so since. Great for take out, decent for eating in. I don't see how you could be disappointed, unless you're looking for disappointment.
(5)Kewlr K.
A wonderful family run restaurant in MLT. We shared the chicken yellow curry and chicken pad thai at a medium heat. In addition I had a thai coffee. Both plates were quite tasty. I found the pad thai to be a tad too sweet for my taste. Still the dish was very good. Spice factor was perfect! I only give 4 stars because they were a little slow giving us the check. It seems they were a little busy on their computer. I also will give them some grace as it was a slow, hot day and this is a mom and pop place.
(4)Chad K.
This is the best Thai food I've ever had, hands down. I frequent this place a couple times a month. I haven't had a bad dish yet, and I've tried nearly everything on the menu. Protips: 1) Bring cash. 2) Start with fresh rolls. 3) Pad kwa hang w/ beef. 4) Mango sticky rice. Just a heads-up: this year they're temporarily closed until after labor day.
(5)Lionel G.
Great little place to stop by if you're in the area! The spring rolls were great but the Pad Thai was just okay nothing special. The pineapple fried rice on the other hand was yummy!
(4)Jared W.
Love this place!! Food is always excellent and the family is always kind and attentive.

How I heard of this place: My friends Zach and Cynthia introduced me to Amorn as we contemplated whether to cook at home or find something delicious out. Zach remembered that this, their favorite Thai restaurant had just re-opened after having been closed for the months of August and September! Type of cuisine: Thai cuisine, mostly authentic without the heat (though that may have just been for our party). Ambiance: Sweet and cozy, just like a home should be. The space feels like a living room. The brightly (yellow) colored walls with Thai decor, including fans, trinkets and wooden objects surround you as you dine at tables and chairs placed at some distance throughout the establishment - to allow for privacy in conversations at each table. The dim lighting makes it a sweet date spot, but is also very family friendly and also lends itself to being a nice space for a business lunch or where you may take out of town guests. Casual and loving the space gives off a sense of being in a trusted and warm home. What I ordered: The three of us chose to go family style, with three vegetarian options. We started with the tofu fresh rolls ($5.95 for two, each split in half) which came with fresh cucumber, cilantro, carrots, tofu and a light peanut sauce. For our main entrees, we ordered the tofu dra-prow ($8.50): stir-fried tofu with basil and vegetables (broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms and bamboo shoots) in a chili garlic sauce. The vegetable delight ($8.50) made with sauteed broccoli, zucchini, baby corn, snap peas, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms in a tasty brown sauce. Our third selection was for a vegetarian pad kee mao ($8.95): pan-fried flat rice noodles with egg, basil, chili, tofu and vegetables. Our dishes were served with brown rice. What I loved: My favorite of the dishes we selected was the tofu dra-prow, followed by the fresh rolls. The food was all fresh and the vegetables seasonal, the flavors light (not weighed down and heavy in thick sauces). Why I loved it: I continued to grow in my love of Amorn from the moment we entered its loving embrace to the friendly familiarity of the servers/owners to the delicious, fresh and home-made food. It was a winning combination from beginning to end! Cost: Low ($8.50-$14.95 for family-style dinner entrees)

Ever have that craving for Thai food that just won't go away? Well, that was me today. As I was driving through Mountlake Terrace after a Dr. appointment, I saw the sign for Amorn Thai and just had to stop. I've been here before I started Yelping, and wasn't too impressed, but I was totally impressed when I came back. I ordered the Yum Woon Sen, which is listed under the salads. It has chicken, prawns and an amazing lime juice dressing that just made me swoon. It was topped with peanuts and green onions and made my mouth sing. I also ordered Thai Iced Coffee, which was some of the best it's ever been my pleasure to consume. The coffee was just the right strength, and was perfectly sweet. The portions are perfect and what I had was excellent. I think I may have found my new favorite Thai dish. I will stress again that this is a cash-only place, so be sure to bring dollars instead of plastic. The service is wonderful and the food is so amazing. If you are in Mountlake Terrace, try this little hidden gem!
(5)Evan H.
Amorn is an extremely nice guy and makes the best Thai food in the area. It is all fresh, quality ingredients and authentic. Phad Qua Han is amazing and their fresh roles are to die for with their peanut sauce. Highly recommend!
(5)Vivian S.
Saw the reviews here and ordered to go for myself and a friend. The coconut chicken soup is wonderful - except once in awhile you get a mouthful of inedible ginger. I noticed this happens bout 50% of the time with this soup!!!! The woman answering managed to take a flawless order over the language barrier and was very sweet and remember to give me a to-go menu...but no utensils or napkins. I had to knock a star off my original 4 star review because my friend did not care for her salad at all. I saw that it was runny and the lime sauce tasted great but as I didn't try it I can't say one way or the other.
(3)David C.
First time visitor, and I slap myself for not coming here sooner. I loved the chicken panang, the prawn pad thai, and the sweet rice/mango for dessert. The price was very reasonable. I'm coming back!
(5)Arat S.
Best Thai in this area, IMHO. We aren't brave; we order Pad Thai, one chicken and one prawn, every time we go. The kids like it (bonus) and it's great for nights when we don't have the energy to cook. Nothing comes close to Thai Siam in Ballard, but it works. Love that it is family owned and operated. Takeout is always piping hot so no need to nuke it when we get home. Their annual summer closure is a pain, but I'll take decent Thai for 3/4 of the year if I means I don't have to go to Silver Spoon :)
(4)Kris K.
Closed for the summer? Zero stars When it's open, this place rocks and makes one think that solid take out in the north end doesn't have to be a pipe-dream fantasy. Because when you are craving their food and call only to find out they are closed until September, you have to go to Thai Bistro and be super disappointed and spend the whole meal talking about how the eggplant is a million times better at Amorn. Sad face.
(4)Todd M.
This place is AWESOME! The owners are so friendly and sweet! The food is fresh, delicious, generously sized and very reasonably priced! HIGHLY recommend.
(5)Cary B.
This places is amazing! So flavorful! And for dessert have mango sticky rice. Soooo Delicious! !!
(5)Lora L.
I remember this place being a lot better a few years ago when i dined there. The tom yum is very different maybe different spices are used here but its not the reddish broth you get elsewhere. The pad thai was too sweet for my taste and the beef strips were just that, strips of beef like at a bbq place. They were nice enough to let me use my card since I didnt realize this was a cash only establishment.
(3)Jaymee M.
I love it. Small little hole in the wall and family owned and operated. Their pineapple fried rice was some of the best I have ever had. Huge chunks of pineapple but not overwhelming as you think that it would be. Kee Mao is amazing. Huge chunks of beef. All of their portions are pretty large. Spice was not overpowering on anything. They have signs all over saying cash only but they will take a card if you totally have no cash on you. Just bring cash so they don't get knocked with high merchant fees. Help the little guy out! Decor is nothing to write home about. It is very cluttered and at some points you don't know if you are in a gift shop or a place to eat.
(5)Brian B.
Great food. Phad thai is great but sometimes it gets too sticky when I get them togo. But overall flavor is great and the service is great as well.
(4)Elisa W.
I tried this restaurant yesterday after reading so many good reviews here. I called in an order of several items (about 7 or 8 different dishes) and picked them up to take to Friends who've never had Thai food and didn't *think* they would like it. I ordered all of my favorite dishes so they could try each one and see which they liked best. (Yes, I am a food pusher) This place is a cute little establishment, clean and adorned with nice little pieces of Asian art. The owners are Friendly and polite. The food was wonderful, but taking it to go probably wasn't nearly as good as sitting in the restaurant, eating it piping hot off the wok. Flavor is everything, though, and the food here had all the wonderfully fresh and crisp flavors I crave in my Thai food! I'm glad I found this place. I'll be going back when I can sit for a bit and enjoy a bottle or ten of Singha with my Pad Se Ew and mango sticky rice.
(4)David S.
Didn't know it was cash only. Thankfully I happened to have $40 cash on me. Ordered some spring rolls that were good. Not the typical soft style Thai spring roll. Instead they were deep fried. For entrees we ordered a beef pad kee mao (drunken noodle) and a chicken panang curry. The steak was cooked medium-rare and was really pretty good. Most places overcook beek but not here. The curry was addictingly good. I was even scooping rice into the empty curry bowl to make sure I got all of the sauce. Overall this is a solid Thai restaurant with reasonable prices and delicious food.
(4)Marc D.
Best hole in the wall find in a long time!! Awesome dishes, we always do take out so can't comment on done in service. Great spot with excellent phad thai. Pineapple fried rice rocks! Only downside is that they close for the summer.
(5)Trevor W.
Our favorite local Thai restaurant. Family operated, they serve very fresh home-style authentic Thai food. The food has much more subtle and nuanced flavor palettes that really highlight the fresh ingredients, as opposed to other Thai restaurants that drown their dishes in heavy sauces. And as a bonus, the family that owns and runs the place is just lovely.
(4)David D.
Meh. The food was really good to me (I like Thai curry), but everything else was poop. First thing you notice is the place looks barren outside, then the front door is super hard to open (I felt like I was Indiana Jones pushing a stone tablet out of the way), and I'm not sure what I did upon entering the door but apparently I pissed off the staff or they were having a bad day collectively. All I did was walk in, and I was basically just grumped at from there on. But before that, you're greeted with a weird collection of...stuff... the front area strangely reminded me of the junk store from Gremlins - almost to the point where I expected an old guy with a beard to sell me a Mogwai. So anyway, I sit down and notice the signs everywhere in the dining area that scream "CASH ONLY!!!!" at me silently. I thought it was odd that they're so hardcore about CASH but they don't have a sign on the door or the window and if they did it wasn't obvious. So, anyways, old man grump shows up and I'm getting up because I explained I didn't have cash - he says it's ok this one time to use credit so I sit back down. Now, why is it that they HAVE the ability to accept credit but they've got cash only written all over the place? That, I don't understand. It's about as unwelcoming in this day and age as a kick in the balls. Other than people who know this place only* accepts cash (*not only), who is going to walk in here with a wad of cash in the age of digital transactions, debt, and credit? Seriously. Anyways, so old mister grump comes back over and asks me to order. Feeling guilty about using credit, I order a little more stuff than usual to make up for it, and he mopes off... Then the food comes out. Finally something good about this place. This is all 3 of my stars right here. The food was great. The curry was very authentic, and when I went for the highest level of heat, man I got it in spades. Normally, I get the "thai hot" or "5 stars" and it's more like 3-star heat. Nope, this was hotttttttttt....but good. Everything else I had was good too. So there's a huge plus. But then comes in a more 'high class' looking pair of ladies who come in and sit down who are greeted with a smile, some laughs, and even grumps was being jolly and helpful with the menu items and such. Maybe I didn't look rich enough to be greeted when I came in...? I don't know. And then an Indian family came in, and they got the nice treatment too. It's not like I came in like a hobo covered in dirt or anything with an evil look in my eye. I don't know. Whatever. So yeah, I finish my food and I just sit there. Nobody comes. Nothing. So after like 10 minutes, I finally just get up and go to the counter. A lady grumps over and tells me the total and I pay with my CREDIT CARD just fine. Then I left... ...and lo was my adventure into the world of Amorn Thai. I suppose if you're one of the lucky ones who doesn't get treated like crap, good on you. Give this place 5 stars. Be well, John Spartan. Unfortunately, if you're me or like me, clearly you are wrong for being there...but don't forget your cash, bro.
(3)Sa Y.
Cash only and it's best Thai cheap. I was at montlake for a day class and missing hood Thai. Owned by Amorn and is really yummy
(4)Mitch G.
Not great Thai food. Is there anywhere in the Shoreline / Mountlake Terrace / Lake Forest Park area that serves good Thai food??? I've ordered from Amorn Thai a few times in the last 6 -12 months. At first I thought it was pretty good...maybe the best in Shoreline. But after tonight I don't think I'll order from there any more. It just wasn't very good. We ordered phad see ew with chicken (wide noodles with broccoli) and Tom yum gai soup (chicken). The noodle dish had a weird flavor. Not that tasty. I figured that dish would a no brainer to get right. The soup came with shrimp instead of chicken...which I didn't discover til I got home. And the shrimp didn't taste very good. But the broth had a decent flavor. As I'm sure you've read this place is cash only. The service seems ok. Tonight was uneventful but not especially great either. But one time they gave me some sticky rice I was hoping for even though the menu apparently only has mango sticky rice, not regular sticky rice. Anyway, I guess next time I'll try that place along aurora or my favorite place on lake city way around 80th. I just wish there was a place nearby that delivers in Shoreline.

I love the owners and the food. This place was recommended when I was undergoing medical treatment and could not hold food down or have an appetite. Ning the owner fixed me some vegetables and cukes with vinegar that were great. I started out slow sampling a variety of dishes, curries, phad thai of course, vegetable dishes, panang seafood, they all are cooked to order and delicious. I'm very spoiled by everyone here and I'm notorious for not ordering off the menu and substitutions always. I have always been made outstanding delicious dishes consistently over the years. My husband and I are always called by name and recognized whether it's take out or in dining. We like spicy and it is plenty spicy when we order 3-4 stars. Leftovers pack a punch the next day if you want spicy. I love the cucumber salad to eat throughout the meal. The panang chicken is excellent, as is the vegetable delight dish as is, or better with large scallop and prawns added. My family loves the fried rice which is not anything like what everyone else serves. It is fresh rice with fresh herbs like basil in it and just tastes amazing and fresh, no grease at all. Fresh ingredients made to order by a local family in my community.....it does not get any better. CASH only, is the only inconvenience and they are not open on Sundays. Family does need a day off though. I see here where posts are complaining it is not "red" or colored like everywhere else. Amorn makes every dish to order, so there is NOT the added food colors or salt, MSG and massive amounts of artificial flavors that others use. I notice they use fresh herbs and spices on all my food. If you do not want fresh sauce for your phad thai, I suggest you go where they use bottled sauces and canned food/spices. I am not a family member like I'm guessing it sounds like. I got to know the family by being a customer for years. Ning was kind to me when I was very sick and they have always gone out of their way to help me. I became a loyal customer because of this kindness they showed to me, in spirit, word and through their cooking. Perfect example of two families coming together to build up our community.

I commonly order take out here. Consistently great food! I usually order the chicken Pad Thai, and chicken cashew. Make sure you bring Cash Only. Reasonable Prices too.
(5)Princess J.
I love buying from family establishments. they are a friendly family but food isnt as great and I love Thai food and go to Thai food weekly. first time I went I ordered everything lol. had to see what the buzz is about. food was all mediocre. the tom yum seafood was not tom yum you get everywhere else . it was like a egg drop soup with shrimp and tomatoes. the pad see we was lacking sauce and flavor and only came with the protein and broccoli. chicken was fine. fried rice basic. second time I went a year later during lunch at noon found out it was cash only and they don't serve lunch dinner price all day. luckily I had $22 on me and I ordered pad see eew and it was burnt and Panang curry beef that was a small plastic container had 5 pieces of tender thumb size meats and one lemon grass leaf and a couple basil the curry tasted good. portions were small for the dinner price at lunch. for lunch I'll stick to other tasty thai food places. I really really wanted to love this place cause its so close to me and I love Thai food.
(2)Eric S.
I've been driving past this place for too long I think, so I called in a take out order the other day...Yellow chicken curry, Pineapple fried rice, and Tom Kha Gai. The Tom Kha wasn't delicious, it was different than what I was expecting, but it was good. I really liked the curry and the pineapple rice.....I mean, if you can't get those two right, should you really be in business? I would safely order those 3 items again. So yes, I will be going back to try other dishes when they get back from Thailand... in...whenever it is they're coming back....August? October?
(3)anders h.
Cash only, but I'm like whateva. Food came quick, hot and delicious. Not overly saucy or salty. Only thing is that the spice level of 3 does not get you much spice. going for a 4 or 5 spice level next time. Chill, quiet atmosphere. Also, had some good vegetarian options too.
(5)Shaun W.
Good menu and quality food. We enjoy this place when we eat local. Seems a 3 star is more like a 4 or low 5 so don't overdue the spice level! Otherwise great.
(4)G C.
Very very clean and organized restaurant. The food was very good too:). The waitress was very kind and polite. Overall I had a great experience!! :)
(5)Nancy W.
We love this place! Our friend is gluten free and they are always accomodating. We go every 1-2 weeks and it's been such a treat to see the Amorn kids grow up! The food is some of the best Thai I've had. The owner is truly a chef and not just a cook! The family is sweet, the food is great, the prices reasonable, the service fast and friendly, and always easy parking!
(5)Chris C.
The food was horrible. I don't really understand how this place gets 4 and 5 stars. We ordered all items mild 1 star because my 3 year old daughter doesn't like spicy. The rad na beef noodles were cut into squares. Squares. They were cooked slightly burnt. There was definitely no "wok magic" flavor. The green curry chicken sauce was thin and very lacking in flavor. The orange beef was OK. All meat and veggies were just barely cooked enough. No good wok sear at all on the orange beef or rad na. The $1.50 order of rice was tiny. Cash only. Fine. But not with the times. I give this place 2 stars. I've never given such a bad review before on Yelp to any restaurant. But in my experience, this place deserves it. We will never eat here again. I can only say that about 1 other restaurant. Being so close to good Thai food in Seattle/Shoreline/ Lynnwood, I was not expecting the food to be so bad.

I'm eating some of the best Tom Ka Gai I've had in a long while. The chicken is just perfectly cooked and there are the tastiest, most beautiful mushrooms in it! Often in Thai restaurants the chicken has been dried to a hockey puck and then added back into the dishes. Also got a fresh roll with prawns and it's super fresh and yummy. In the past I've found the sticky rice dessert exceptional. The food is very basic and fresh. I've eaten here a dozen times in the last few years and never had anything that wasn't tasty and quickly served. If you are interested in 'dining' or a date this is not the place to go. It is family run and so it is like walking into their living room. Depending on the day mama might crack a smile but papa is always kind and an excellent cook. Kids are usually there after school doing homework and helping out.... and well, they're kids. Give it a try for lunch or take out. Great family business, bring cash to save them a transaction fee.

5 stars for the food, lost a star for the tacky decor/lack of service. Note: CASH ONLY Location/Parking - it's a little bit hard to find, tucked into a mixed use area, but they've got their own parking in the front. It's a block from Roger's and Cascade Elite. Ambiance - I ducked hanging strands of shells going through the door and then emerged in a cluttered hole-in-the-wall gift shop in a not-so-prosperous part of Thailand - well, at least it felt like that. You'll know what I mean when you go. Food - Wow. The BEST eggplant basil ever, I mean EVER! I don't even like eggplant that much! The flavor is amazing! I hardly noticed that it wasn't spicy at all when we asked for a little. My son only eats Pad see ew with beef, so we got that, again, they NAILED it. The only thing was, we ordered mild but it came just a tad spicy - maybe they got the star rating mixed up with the eggplant, but whatever - it's so good you don't care! Also had the red curry which people raved about on Yelp, I thought it was good, very good in fact, but those other 2 dishes were even better. Maybe we'll try to panang curry next time. Portion size is probably a tiny bit smaller than at other restaurants. Service - Ummm, I think they came by to offer water at the very end of the meal, but that's okay, the food - oh - I could go on and on about it! It must be a family owned restaurant because I saw the one kid on a computer parked in the front by the register, no waitress dressed in black, just someone who I assume to be and looked like the teenaged daughter. Recommendation - Do take out, but definitely go! The food really is amazing!

I agree with the other post that said this place is overrated. It seems dumpy and junky to me. They use one of the tables in the dining space as office space. If you love clutter, this is the place to go. The food was just okay and the prices werent great. I live right down the street but I won't be going back! Too many better places to go.

They are back from Thailand with lots of Thai peppers, always amazing food.
(5)Kippy D.
My friend and I ordered take-out from this place tonight; first time there for both of us. We ordered chicken phad kee mao and beef panang. The chicken was very bland, the beef was over-cooked, and the noodles stuck together so the sauce wasn't well-distributed, BUT the food was delicious! Tastiest curry ever, with a hint of fennel--made the bland chicken from the other dish taste great! The vegetables were cooked perfectly (although we would have liked fewer onions and a bit more noodles in the phad kee mao.) In spite of our food's shortcomings, I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend it to others.

A very modest little building in an out-of-the-way parking lot tucked off to the side of the Mountlake Terrace main business district. You can drive by it without really noticing it, even if you're from here. In fact, I have, probably 30 times. Finally made it in for lunch Saturday. It feels from the outside like a former mini mart, and they haven't wasted a ton of money renovating it. They've cleaned it up and painted it, but they didn't add a bunch of silly frills. There's a little shelf of knickknacks for sale right when you walk in. They make it feel like a family place. Much as I dislike knickknacks, having them here gives it a welcoming unpretentiousness. The service is friendly, heavily accented, and clearly built from a core staff of family and close relatives. They're super nice, and they clearly enjoy what they're doing. The coffees and teas are fantastic, and the menu looks promising right away. They have a full lineup of dishes organized by protein content (beef, fish, etc.), including a solid list of veggie options. When in Rome, do as the Romans, so we followed the lead of the vegetarian at the table and got a couple of tofu dishes. Both were fantastic. At two stars, neither of them struck me as crazy spicy, but I am more than happy to spice things up until I cough and sweat, so take that with a grain of salt. Both had fresh ingredients, sauces with depth and complexity, and the tofu was cooked to a perfect texture. Everything still tasted good an hour and a half later as we kept pecking at the leftovers. (Ya gotta love a place that isn't too awfully busy when you get swept away in conversation.) The brown rice had great flavor and nice chewy texture to it. For coffee, tea, and two entrees, the total was $28. Not too bad. I will definitely be back. They have a full to-go menu, I think. Been back since with different folks, and I can't say anything nice about the sweet and sour sauce. Not much more than orange ketchup...not that I'd ever recommend ordering sweet and sour anything anywhere, but that was a disappointment. Also, despite having only two other tables, we waited 20 minutes for them to clear our plates. Still heartily recommended, but avoid the s&s and be willing to flag down floor staff.
(4)Amy W.
It was disappointing. My friend's garlic dish had so much pepper in it, that he couldn't eat it. My noodle dish was a 2 star but bland, which i think they tried to cover up with adding more bay leaves. The leaves and half of my noodles were burnt, but some of the chicken was raw! I will not be going back.
(1)Rebecca P.
Excellent food! Excellent service-- consistently. I have been here many times and though their cash-only policy is a little inconvenient, the food, ambience and friendly service more than make up for it. I have read some negative reviews here, and I am quite positive the folks who wrote them are complete idiots. I am a Thai food connoisseur and this is among the best I have ever had. Not only that, but they are a family-run business and I fully support their hard work ethic.
(5)Jen P.
Pad See Ew was truly "ewww". The primary flavor was the oil and wok. Even the scant broccoli tasted of nothing but burned oil. My dinner date was persistent and found that at the bottom of the pile of tasteless noodles was more flavor. We requested fresh tofu and it was fried. We also asked for medium spicy and the heat was barely discernible. More like a 1 star, if any at all.

I have to say I've tried many Thai restaurants and Amorn Thai is one of my favorites! This place is a small neighborhood, family owned restaurant. Its nothing fancy, but it's clean and quaint and best of all the food is soooooo delicious! I usually order chicken Phad Thai, beef Fried Garlic and brown rice. The Phad Thai is nicely flavored and not overly sauced. If you get the "Fried Garlic" you must try it with beef! The beef is more of a thin sliced steak, hearty and so tender! The garlic is definitely eminent and mixes with the juices of the tender beef. If you like garlic, this is your dish! It comes with broccoli on the side which soaks up the garlic sauce. I've had their Thai fried rice as well, very tasty. I've eaten in once, but usually order to go. Its take them 15 minutes for my order to be done. When I walk in its already packed up and ready to go. The prices are far more affordable then most Thai restaurants. But remember to have cash on hand since its a cash only place. All in all their service is great and I'm always greeted with a smile. Service: Friendly and quick! Ambiance/view: "Homey" feeling. Lots of traditional Thai decor. No view. Parking: The restaurant has a dedicated parking lot. Verdict: Tasty Thai food! I have already been back more than a couple of times. This is my go to Thai place!
(5)Joyce W.
I love this place...they are in my neighborhood too. One of the major reasons I enjoy it so much is the friendly, family owned vibe.. every time I visit they make me feel so welcomed. The food is authentic, the mushrooms they use in the soup are my favorite, straw..not American , authentic Thai spices.. The family visits there annually and brings more back just for us! Prices are good. The only negative is the front door. needs to be replaced! Otherwise 5* on quality.. its a local diner feel so, my favorite is take out.. Enjoy!
(5)Susan W.
Amorn is one of my favorite restaurants in/near Mountlake Terrace. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable. This is a family owned/run establishment and consistently delivers high quality Thai food. I frequently order takeout and sit in meals. The Rad Na is fabulous. The peanut sauce is some of the best I've had. They have lots of vegetarian choices, but their meat dishes are also excellent. Cash only is a slight drawback but not enough to subtract a star. Love this place.
(5)G W.
Overrated in my opinion. Food was average at best compared to other surrounding Thai restaurants (the famous Pad Thai dish was quite disappointing and nothing to brag about). Service was ok, Its pretty obvious the owner can be very engaging and attentive to a select group of customers which can make others not feel as welcomed. I think the kicker for me was that they did not accept plastic-cash only. Who doesn't take plastic these days??
(2)Joan K.
Their Tom Kha Gai (Thai coconut soup) is probably the best we've had! Wonderful little place owned and run by a charming Thai family - they really put their heart and soul into this place. I have had better Pad Thai (theirs is a little "saucy") but all-in-all it's a great stop if you're in the area. Small, intimate, clean!
(5)Steph E.
I discovered this place on a lunch break from a job I had a few years back. It had just opened. The staff was very friendly and the food wad pretty good. When i quit working in the neighborhood, I unintentionally quit going. Now I travel to the MLT a few times month for work and look forward to being able to come in for lunch again. The same warm couple welcomes me and the taste and portion sizes have improved. They are very caring and sincere people and I love to eat their food. Phad See Ew with a side of peanut-sauce is my favorite! Please note: cash only.
(5)Jane D.
Delicious, fresh, generous portions, cooked to order. My favorite so far is any pan fried flat rice noodle on the menu--they have 3 or 4. I'm slowly working my way down the soups. I've been here 5 times now and the food is consistant. Each time I have ordered a different item. Business is steady here and there is a loyal following. Chicken larb is fanatastic, so is the shrimp in palm sauce. I would add it to your favorite Thai places--you may find it goes right to the top of the list.

Had a craving for pad see-ew so we headed out for a quick lunch at Amorn Thai. There's a new sign on the counter, owner said that it's a new policy: CASH ONLY. Glad we had cash on hand. Quiet for early afternoon, not busy, but not completely empty. Service was prompt and friendly and the food came out exceptionally fast and steaming hot. He, not the world's biggest fan of Thai food (but a good sport when the craving hits me), had pineapple fried rice: Very large shrimp, heavy on the chicken, lots of bite sized pineapples in a mild yellow curry/turmeric flavored rice. Tasty and enough for lunch. I ordered what had brought me here, the see-ew with beef, 3/medium. At first it seemed I should have ordered much hotter as the first bites were smooth and mild, but the heat is that wonderful subtle kind that builds and it was quite evident by the end of the meal. Excellent pad see-ew: Noodles were done just right, sauce was flavorfully balanced, meat was tender, broccoli still a bit of crunch - definitely sated the craving. Still, next time I'll go up a star for a bit more kick. Oh, besides the new Cash Only policy, might want to be aware that soft drink orders are singles, no free refills. When those cravings for Thai food hit, it's very nice to have a place that does solid good Thai food this close to home.

Ohh my gosh!! I am vegetarian and the adorable cook made accommodations for my veggie requests. The restaurant itself is clean and welcoming. So happy they have vegetarian options. I am in from out of town and I was told this restaurant had the best thai food in Seattle. And I am a believer!
(5)Patrick O.
Came here today to get my Red Curry w/Chicken fix that I normally go to Tup Tim Thai for; I shouldn't have come here. The curry is not even red, it very bland and watery. The chicken is flavorless as well. I ordered 3/5 spicy, and what I got is like 0.5/5. Overall, if you enjoy good Thai food, avoid this place, no idea how it got 4.5/5 stars on Yelp. Must be a lot of people with bad taste buds, or that don't like spicy food.
(2)Ben C.
Went there for the first time. I had heard good things. Pulled up and went inside what appeared to be an authentic Thai restaurant....fresh with offerings for Buddha and everything. Nice decor, you know....the works. Talked to a gal who worked there. Chit chatted a bit. I ordered pad Thai and chicken Rama (spell check). I was asked if I wanted rice. I understand pad Thai doesn't come with rice but it's typical it comes with stir fry dishes, I've had my fair share of Thai food so don't tell me rice isn't an accompaniment with non noodle dishes. I am then asked if I want rice, I say yes please. I'm told the total is $20.75. Dang, for two dishes and rice? Okay, I brought a $20 bill, that was it. I said "well shoot, looks like I'm .75 short." I realize I could have taken out the rice but that's like going to Dick's and taking out the fries. The guy says sorry and that was it. Cheap son of a bitch wouldn't just let me slide. I realize it's a business and what if everyone one is short .75 then that's a big loss. But that doesn't happen. But sheesh, seventy five cents. Oh well, I won't be trying their food unless its at someone else's home cause they will get zero dollars of mine....shoot, I tried to give them $20 of mine but they didn't want it. Still is just as awesome as usual. My one complaint I have is the Amorn family shuts their doors for a month when they travel back home during the summer and I miss their food while they are gone! Keep up the great job!
(5)Sam B.
This place is overrated. I went there since it had 4 star rating. I was supper excited until I got my food. Food was just OK. Despite 4 star rating, there was nobody at dinner time. So I was hoping my food would be super delicious, but it was just ok. "Higher expectation higher disappointment." They don't take plastic either. I am glad other people had better experience here.
(2)Doug M.
I'm not usually a big fan of Thai food but I was in the mood for something very different. I'd been intrigued with the reviews of Amorn Thai and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the red curry beef. Brown rice is an option that I was glad to have but $2.50 for a bowl of rice seems a bit steep. The menu seemed to caution about the heat intensity. I scaled down my normal 5 star auto reflex down to 4. I am very grateful for that! The four star made me cough but that was the correct intensity for me. The curry was amazingly complex and savory and may well have been the best Thai food I've ever had. However, I'm a hearty eater and left still hungry. If you have a big appetite you might want to get an appetizer. Amorn Thai isn't perfect but I don't doubt that I will have to have another dose of that red curry!
(4)Marl K.
I love this place! It has pretty much set the bar for me for Thai food. My wife and I are long time customers of this place, and we've never had a complaint about anything we've received in the dozens and dozens of times we've been here. The owners are extremely friendly, and the food comes out to you surprisingly quickly. My favorite dishes are the Tom Ka Gai (white soup) and the Pad Kwa Hang (fried garlic with noodles). If you want to be spoiled with delicious food, definitely go here.
(5)Amanda L.
Wow! Some of the best Pad Thai I've had! I typically get with 3 stars and it was fabulous. The atmosphere is cute and quaint. It was quite stuffy in there so I recommend a table with a fan above it. After we asked them to open the door, they turned on the wall a/c unit. That was nice and got it done to 74 degrees. This is a family-run restaurant by a hard-working Thai family. The owner/cook took some time to share with us after our meal about closing for 3 months and heading to Thailand with the family. What a great tradition! The fresh shrimp spring rolls were great and served with an oil based peanut sauce instead of the traditional pureed peanut sauce. Tried the fish cakes...quite fishy but good with the cucumber sauce as well.

I have been wanting to try Amorn for quite some time now, and only just have gotten around to it. My neighbor and I talked about it and considered walking the 2.5 miles during Snowpacalypse 2012- only to call and find out that night they were closed. So we decided that tonight is a good night for Thai. I'm so glad he suggested this place. The food was outstanding. We ended up sharing our dishes which went something like this. Chicken Satay for starters... Entrees: Pad Thai with Chicken, Cashew Chicken and I got a chicken with veggies plate. All dishes were 3-1/2 stars spicy- and yes it was SPICY! Absolutely delicious! I'm so glad that Mountlake Terrace finally has a very good restaurant and Thai at that! I'll be back, hopefully next week!
(5)Jay O.
1) When I want Thai food, I will return to this place. The food is very good! 2) Food came out of kitchen quickly. 3) Only downsides: cash only and dining room could use a cleaning, fresh coat of paint, etc.
(4)Mr. T A.
Great restaurant, super Thai food. Wonderful family business off the beaten track. I've eaten Thai food everywhere, from America to Thailand, and have no reservations taking friends to go eat some delicious meals. My family and I get take-out a couple of times a month. Super consistent and tasty. Love the red curry and easily above-average Pad Thai. Fresh herbs and fine cooking. Bring cash as the owner doesn't do cards. Totally worth it.
(5)Claire F.
I moved away from the area about 2 months ago, and not a week goes by that I don't miss my former proximity to this place. It's a funky little place run by a charming family, serving up seriously spicy and delicious food. Whether you are dining in or taking out, everyone in there is so nice and welcoming, from Amorn and his wife, to their great high school age kids, to occasional visits from cousins, aunties, and grandparents from Thailand. They always take the time to ask about my family and I, remember my favorite menu items, and offer exotic treats brought back when returning from Thailand. For other reviewers; cash-only is a policy that saves the business owner on silly fees from credit card companies, and really only benefits you by letting owners keep the cost low. I totally get that it can be annoying your first time, but they are willing to let it slide to keep your business, and really, just get cash at any ATM or bank before you go... it's worth it.
(5)Alice C.
This place is a gem. My mom moved to MLT about a month ago and is slowly beginning to explore the area, and this is the firs restaurant she's tried out that she hadn't been to previously. The family that owns this little joint has been in this location for about four years, and had been open about a weekish after returning back from a family vacation (they went back to Bangkok for about two months). My Mom and I stopped in for a late lunch and ordered a ton of food: two appetizers, a delicious shrimp and jelly noodle salad which came dressed with fresh lime juicefish sauce/chili flakes, two entrees, and Thai coffees for each of us. Everything came out freshly made- there was a little wait time some may have complained about (we were the only ones there), but when we talked to the owner about his vacation and how long he had been a restaurant owner, he said he didn't like how some Thai restaurants will cook some entrees en mass and reheat them, and that he prefers to cook everything to order even if it takes a little longer. It definitely shows, the quality and flavor was better than some of the Thai I've had in Seattle (looking at you, Rom Mai). Prices are pretty in line for other Thai joints I've been to, and the portions are generous. While I have only been for lunch, from what I've heard theres a steady dinner crown and a busier take out business.
(5)Andrea M.
Going on the review regarding how good the crab fried rice was, I went to get an order to go. It did not disappoint! Yeah, it's pricey, but if you love crab & fried rice, you'll love this combo! Mmmmm! I appreciate that it wasn't covered in soy sauce or was too salty. My BF liked the chick fried rice too. Try the miang kam app special, cuz it's worth it. Then finish off your meal with the black sticky rice pudding. This family works hard to make good food! Support local businesses. The crab fried rice is no longer on the menu. Boo hoo!
(4)Angela H.
The food was delivered promptly. The temperature was just right. The service was frequent enough, helpful, and jocular. The food was flavorful, perfect, and had some options I haven't seen at other Thai restaurants before. My favorites are: Salad #15 Yum Woon Sen, and soup #9 Vegetarian Soup.
(5)Peter S.
Nice little place with good food. The owners were gracious. I think the flavors jump out a tad more at Thai Bistro in Shoreline though.
(3)Brownie L.
Mediocre, over priced. It's edible, but I wouldn't bother if I were you. I would have had a more satisfying meal at McD's and saved some money too.
(2)Yichuan Z.
This is the only thai place within driving distance of my office and I love thai so I frequent here a lot. That being said their food is either good or great but they lack consistency. Some days the pad thai is way too dry and their 4 star in terms of spiciness is really a 3. But when they are on their game the food is great, if they were more consistent I'd rate them higher but overall still decent food
(4)James M.
Terrific Thai dishes! The service was friendly and felt very warm and family oriented. The portions are large and lend themselves to great left-overs. The lime and shrimp salad with 'crystal' noodles was amazing. AND there spice levels are actually SPICY if you order a 3, 4 or 5. Amorn Thai is worth leaving Seattle for the quick drive North.
(5)Lady W.
OMG, this little gem is just two minutes away from me but for some reason I've never been down this road (apparently I don't get out much). The overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp led me here. There was only one really negative comment as far as I can see re: grandma clipping toenails in the lobby. Being Asian, and growing up spending a lot of my youth at the family business, this scenario seems familiar to me. Haha. I figure as long as grandma is not in the kitchen, we're good! Arrived to find a nice little family-run business - very cozy, bright, and clean (good sign) inside, including the immaculate and seems organized open-front kitchen. Top it off with the friendly service by everyone including the young boy and girl. I don't remember being this joyful and courteous when I was young, stuck at dad's store! They seem to automatically get you water as soon as you walk-in (even for take out) and he even opened the door for me when I left. Tom Kha soup w/ chicken - good, coconut soup not too heavy (wish they have it with other options - it's only chicken or tofu. will ask next time) Golden tofu - small tofu cubes with peanut plum sauce (nothing surprising, plain fried tofu just like I prefer, but tofu was indeed really good, didn't care for the plum sauce, will get peanut sauce next time). Pad Kee Mao noodles with prawns (my favorite dish) - it was delish, not dripping wet with oil or overly dry. the prawns were huge (and you get like 5-6 pcs) Red curry beef - yummy with steamed rice! I ordered mine with 4 stars (very hot) - and it was the perfect degrees for a flavorful kick! I hate Thai places that either 5* is not spicy at all or a 3/4 is burning thru the roof that you can't enjoy it. Will definitely be back soon!
(4)Jacob M.
My favorite thing about this place is that they don't hold back on the spice at all. They are pretty clear on their menu that even 3 stars is pretty spicy, and I was definitely not disappointed with my 5 star tom kha gai. By the end of it I had a few tears and a nice layer of sweat on my brow, but is was so delicious I just couldn't stop. The hot peppers they use are very fresh and delicious, not a dried pepper or something like you often get. Also, their fried wontons are excellent and you can tell from the freshness of everything that they make all their food from scratch in house. The atmosphere seems really authentic, and it didn't bother me and my wife to get served by what are obviously the owners children, although I can see how that might be a negative some people. IMO this would be a better country if more kids actually learned how to earn a living at an early age anyways.
(5)Courtney S.
Delicious food! Fresh vegetables, no grease. Nice atmosphere. This place must be a secret because there was only one other group in the restaurant. Great prices and quick service. They started to take CASH ONLY, which is probably a bad business plan. The excellent flavors of the food is worth the extra trip to the bank.

I know food, me and food go way back, me and Thai food are friends forever. I have been to tons of Thai food Restaurants. This by far, by leaps and bounds, is THE BEST Thai food I have found in the greater Seattle area, It kicks butt on thai siam in Ballard. It is a family run business with a Father, wife, and two kids a boy aged 13 and a girl 17 or so helping out sometimes. Iove coming in here and seeing them eat as a family in the corner of the restaurant sometimes. REALLY COOL!!! Amorn, the owner and father of the family is very friendly and a great and fast cook, he does the majority of the cooking and holy moly is it good. My favourites are the pork red curry, the ginger chicken and pad kee mao beef. Seasonally they have a dessert called mango sticky rice which is two peeled sides of a mango served with a bed of delicious coconut sticky rice. This restaurant closes two and a half months every summer so Amorn can take his family back to Thailand for the summer. It is hard to endure the summer without Amorn Thai food but I love that Amorn loves his family so much that he does this. His two kids are bi-lingual and are a delight when they come to wait on you. I will always come back to Amorn Thai and it is the place I compare every other Thai food restaurant to, and no other measures up.

So after visiting several times, I feel like an additional star is deserved. I really enjoy the fact that it is a small, locally owned and operated business. The couple who owns it are very sweet and work very hard to make their patrons happy. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. It's never busy when I go there, but it seems like someone is always getting takeout. I feel bad about the crummy location and hope that others will try Amorn Thai, as I want them to stick around! My latest dishes tried were the red curry (absolutely divine!) and Orange Beef. The red curry was very creamy and well seasoned. I asked for eggplant to be added and they had no problem doing so. The orange beef was had by my boyfriend. The sauce had a sweet soy flavor and contained fresh pieces of orange. The beef was yummy and there was a lot of it, it also had the perfect amounts of fresh broccoli and carrots in it. So far these are the dishes that I've tried: Tofu with Chili sauce appetizer, Green Curry w/brown rice, Red curry w/ brown rice, Cashew Chicken, Fried Tofu with steamed veggies and peanut sauce, Orange Beef, and black sticky rice with coconut milk. (check out my past review to get a description of the rest of the dishes) They now have fresh spring rolls on their menu, although I have not had a chance to try them. Make sure you get black sticky rice, it's the best I've ever had. Check out Amorn Thai, you'll be glad you did!!

Every dish we've had has been delicious and beautifully presented. The service is quick and friendly. We are making excuses to go back and try more dishes. We're up to four and planning on five next time.

I never would have found this place were it not for yelp. It's almost hidden in Mountlake Terrace: a family owned restaurant with great food and a nice atmosphere. I came here with a group of four and everyone enjoyed their meals. My fiancée has a favorite dish (Pad See Ew) which she has only liked at Tup Tim Thai downtown, but Amorn seems to trump it, for location and flavor. I had the Pineapple Fried Rice, which was a great mix of sweet and savory. Full disclosure: The table service was not the best (they didn't take away the appetizer plates before the dinner, forgot to bring an iced tea) but the positives out-weigh the negatives. We'll definitely be going back.

I have been a big fan of Thai food for many years, satisfying my hunger at Thai restaurants from San Diego to Vancouver B.C.. When stepping into Amorn Thai for the first time, it felt cozy and a bit worn like a very comfortable sweater. From my first meal a couple of years ago until the one I just ate this evening, this family run small and friendly establishment has never ceased to amaze and delight my taste buds. Every dish I have had from the Panang curry to the vegetarian delight has been a treat of finely chosen and blended tastes and textures that are perfectly cooked and served with a smile. Whether you are tended to by the Parents or the kids, the service is fantastic, the food appears on the table in an amazingly short time and the aromas and flavors are exquisite. The prices are quite reasonable (I have had far worse Thai for far more $$ - often!) Be advised - they only take cash, but it really won't take very much to have a wonderful meal. Make sure to check the schedule in the summer as the owners usually holiday in Thailand to hone their skills and visit with family and Amorn Thai is closed while they are away.

This is a solid 4 1/2 star restaurant at 2-star prices. Delicious food served fresh as a vegetable garden - this husband and wife team (with son, daughter, and grandma joining at times) are so skillful, beautiful and polite, I just wish I was as good anything as they are at being lovely and making fantastic food. When the owner says, "I cook like I'm cooking for my family and friends" you know you've found a good spot to eat. There's rarely anyone ever there and it makes me a little sad, because I worry about them leaving some day. So go there. Get everything (seriously, they are very reasonably priced, take home lunch for the week). Start with the fresh spring rolls, finish with a bow and a smile.

We tried the Panang Curry (because of someone's review on here, and the description on the menu looked amazing!! It really does come with only one strip of red pepper!) Amazing. Love it. We ordered the Fresh Rolls because they are so amazing and the sauce in simply awesome. The only other sauce I have had with fresh rolls is the peanut buttery one, but this is the one with green onions and peanut chunks and is "slightly pinkish." Yeah. Also amazing! We tried a noodle dish that was garlicky with wide noodles, I don't remember the name of it, but it was really great, too. We will be coming back here. A lot. I'd love to try their food for lunch sometime, too.

Delicious! Wonderful thai food close to home. One of my favorite thai places, no complaints.
(5)CJ B.
This places smells right when you walk in and there's a picture of the Thai King on the wall, two sure signs that the food is serious. As others have noted it's a small hole-in-the-wall with a hard working staff. We had the larb chicken and the phad thai, both nicely done, although the phad thai was pretty pedestrian. The larb was served as a salad (no wrapping lettuce leaves) which was a nice change from the traditional presentation. We will be back to try more dishes.

Very good food. Very nice family run business

Amorn has added Crab Fried Rice to the menu... It's so good. It'll set you back $16, but you get a lot of huge chunks of crab meat. If you love crab it's worth every penny.

Ok, here's why I'm giving it one star: The food is good, if not expensive. That would have gotten it about 3 stars. But all the way down for the old woman cutting her toenails in the "lobby" or the area right in front of the door or whatever. Seriously? You're obviously a dying restaurant in a 4-square mile town and you let your mother/grandmother cut her toenails in the lobby? It boggles the mind.

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD! Me and my boyfriend go here all of the time. We love it. And the staff is really nice too.
(5)Kate B.
Very good! Great food, good service. One of the best Thai places in the north end.
(5)Bill H.
Excellent in every way, nice atmosphere, best I have seen with a Thai restaurant. Tasted fresh, just the right spiciness, absolutely delicious. Bring cash. They are going on vacation and closing the restaurant from about end of June for a couple months, so call ahead.

Small local restaurant that is conveniently located in Mountlake Terrace with friendly service. The food is usually pretty good but a little inconsistant. Sometimes different ingredients in the same dish on different days. The chicken always tastes like it was pre-cooked and frozen or sat in the fridge before being reheated in a dish so I stick with the tofu most of the time. It's a nice cozy date restaurant.

Is it wrong to write a review after one visit? Maybe, but I was soooo disapponted with Amorn Thai tonight. The Yelp descriptions made me want to try it, but what a disappointment. Cute little restaurant, but substandard food.
(3)Tony Y.
We ate here several time for to go orders only and it was a good experience. We decided to eat in tonight. We had the spring rolls for appetizer and they were very good. She got the pad thai and I had the pad see ew. Both were very tasty w/ fresh vegetables and meat and the portions were decent, I could have eaten alot more as I was not close to full. But that's because I love eating buffets and not used to normal portions. The service was good, small family run biz are the best. I feel better giving them my hard earned money rather than a corporate chain most of the time. The place was a little pricey but still good quality food and atmosphere. Since this place is very close by we will be back again..

This is where my sister goes to hide out from her husband and kids. I think she just likes the unusual comfortable homeyness it has...and she says this is the best thai food in the area. I have to say I've had it a few times and it is growing on me. Someone mentioned this and I have to agree, it tastes a tad different than other thai I've had, but I'm no connoisseur so I couldn't tell you why. Parking is limited, it is nestled in the burbs and the price is the same as every other place to me. Maybe it's the whole thai mom and pop vibe they have going on that makes it kinda special...

We had a bottle of Alexandria Nicole Late Harvest Reisling from a wine escapade on Sunday and it was screaming for some spicy noodles! Our usual Thai choice was closed so I was excited to try Amorn Thai based on the reviews I had read from my fellow Yelpers. Being that it is located in my home town of MLT helped as well! We were greeted by two little darlings who quickly took our to go order and we were amazed to watch as our dinner delights were cooked in the small kitchen behind the counter. The restaurant itself is cozy and quaint and a perfect setting for this fresh and simple food. The Phad Thai had large pieces of seared chicken and vegetables. The sauce was light, spicy and obviously not the ketchup version. The only thing missing was a lime. We also had the Basil Fried Rice which was delicious; jasmine rice complemented with fresh basil leaves, large chunks of fried egg, seared chicken and vegetables. Then of course we had to have the Wide Noodles with Shrimp. I'm sorry but the name of the dish is failing me now. They definately satisfied my craving! Large Shrimp with soft wide noodles that perfectly soaked up the spicy sauce combined with carrots, onions, green peppers and pieces of fried egg. The only disappointment was the crab wontons. Now this could be that I haven't really had them before but the wonton crust was really difficult to eat and I didn't feel was delicate enough to complement the creamy crab filling. All went lovely with the wine and I think in this case our eyes were larger than our stomachs however the left overs were put into good use the following day. We will definately be back!

Craving Thai, and wanting to romp close to home, I found myself Yelping for "thai food MLT" last night. Amorn Thai immediately popped up. I was initially surprised with the overall high rating and all the more so once I began to peruse the reviews themselves. The reviews all prepared me perfectly for what I might expect from Amorn. The owners, husband and wife, were very sweet, quaint in an honest way. I had the Phad Thai and it was really really delicious in a way that's different from other places. It seemed to be sweeter, and the egg aspect was done so delicately; it was still very soft, not fried to a crisp like one often finds it in fried rice. My man started with the Beef Salad (Larb, I think it's traditionally called?), which I sampled a bit of. It was pretty spicy for my sissy white-girl taste buds, but it had tremendous flavor including surprising hints of citrus. (Maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was previously a beef salad virgin and the flavor was unexpected and refreshing). He got Beef Panang for his main dish and it was mmm -- freaking nectar. On Heidi P's recommendation, I also tried the black sticky rice with coconut for the first time and was very satisfied with the treat. Thai this great, so close to home? We will without a doubt be back!

Guys ,I would say this is one of the best places for authentic Thai food . I lived in Bellevue and would come here if my tummy craved for garlic beef. The place is family owned and the people are very friendly. If you guys go there don't miss the Mango and sticky rice desert.

Mountlake Terrace has never had this fresh of food before. I'm so glad they decided to open their restaurant in my neighborhood. I've tried many Thai restaurants, but this tastes much more fresh than anything I've ever had. Amorn and his wife are very friendly and will come up and ask you if everything is going well. The price is low for the exceptional quality and taste of the food. Very good
(5)Ryan M.
My wife is Thai and she absolutely loves this restaurant. They make the food spicy enough for my wife to enjoy (very spicy). Good portion and reasonable priced. We'll be back, always be back.
(5)NANCY H.
One of the tastiest dishes of pad see ew and yellow curry I have had in a while. Very aromatic and very flavorful. The sauces were quite delicious. I was not too excited with the prices though. Most of the entrees run $8-$9 or more. Appetizers average around $7.50. Just to two entrees and rice cost us around $22. The service was attentive and the owners greet you with a smile. The ambiance is kitchy, small, but clean. I would love to go back again for lunch instead (that way I'd save a few dollars?). Good For: quality flavors, go for the curries, avoid the satay

Years of living in the same suburban area, you get to know the local cafes and their early-closing hours and days off. Unfortunately I never did get around to being a patron of the cafe in this location prior to Amorn Thai. Amorn has a standard daily schedule though, open into the evening, and I've become a regular. It's a nice neighborhood stroll destination (or to-go detour on the way home) with a small lot for parking in front as well. I hope more people find their "nearly hidden from the main roads" location on a city street instead of freeway rushes a few blocks away; on an occasional slow evening they may close early -- a recent before-7pm walk easily before their 9pm closing found them already closed for the evening, but this was an exception I hope isn't too common these days. Still, I've only seen a table occupied a few times when I came in for a to-go dinner order. Maybe I'm hitting the non-rush times. The owners are friendly and the vegetarian section of their menu (spring rolls; Praram Tofu, a peanut-sauce dish; Gang Pak, a vegetable red curry; and others) are delicious. I'm vegan, so the majority of dishes I do avoid (so cannot rate fully); I'll have to bring along an omnivorous friend or relative one of these times. Amorn and Ning (the owners) have always been friendly, prompt, and prepare meals I come back for. Beer and wine listings are on an insert on the back of the dining-in menu.

I'm all for local mom-n-pop shops.. but I'm really uncomfortable when a 10 year old kid serves me. I've sat in once and have taken to-go once. My to-go order was disappointing because the lady asked me if I wanted lunch or regular serving. I assumed that lunch specials are similar in size just discounted.. guess not. I could see the bottom of my box when i got my noodles. So sad. Our sit in experience was okay minus the minors serving us. Boy did they look miserable. The food was good though.

Above average thai! I really enjoy the swimming rama.. skip the pad thai.. not that exciting.
(4)Jesse R.
Great Family owned restaurant! I have been here many times, and it always impresses me how this family can work here 7 days a week!!! Not to mention, they are very friendly and the owner/waiter/cook is AWESOME! I have been here with family and friends, and everyone has expressed their love for the food and the atmosphere. I definitely recommend this place!
(5)Tioseco C.
Just love those small family-owned Thai places. And this one I came across by accident since I was avoiding that messy traffic on I-5. So decided to check it out. My parents and I enjoyed the dishes we ordered. I asked for a special request for them to make Pad Thai with glassy noodles instead. The owner was happy to make it for us. It was delicious. The environment nice, clean and cozy. Will come back soon.

Great food. Comes very close to authentic. I only say "very close" because you can't get it like you can in Thailand. Food here is amazing and customer service is great too. Consistant with taste and service. Price is great too.

What a great little place this is. My barber is right next door and I noticed this new place a few months back and figured I had to give it a try. My friend and I went for lunch yesterday and I would definitely go back again. I don't know much about the various styles of Thai food, but the Panang Curry that I had was quite different from others that I've had. Not what I expected, but still a very nice change of pace for one of my usuals. To begin with, the curry sauce was very heavy on the peanut. In fact, it's fair to say that it could have been mistaken for a peanut sauce. The Panang flavors were all there, but the overtone of peanut predominated. Personally, I love this, so it was a pleasant surprise for me. Beyond that, the curry was very elegant, simple and straightforward: it was just the meat and the curry sauce and just one slice of red bell pepper, more as a garnish than as a curry ingredient. Most other places you visit, you will get a few pieces of meat cut small with a bunch of cheap vegetables to make the curry appear more substantial. This was entirely the opposite: a good portion of large cuts of meat with almost no vegetable component at all. I rather liked it! Also, the bowl of curry came with two scoops of rice instead of a huge bowl of it, which I also found refreshing. I found it to be just enough, the perfect lunchtime portion. A steal at $6.50. My dining companion had the Pineapple Fried Rice, which was a far larger plate of food. It came with chicken and shrimp and was entirely to his liking. I can't comment on it because I'm not a fan of pineapple, but it certainly got top marks for portion and presentation. In his case, the larger portion was a lucky strike, as he has a larger appetite than I. This ran him $9.99 and he found it was completely worth it. Also, as others have said, the service is just the friendliest I've experienced in a long time. Both owners are very friendly and affable and strike me as the kind of people who will remember your name and your usual order. I recommend this place unreservedly.

OK people I don't know how you can give this place a three or a four. It completely rocks. I worked in Thailand for several years, I love Thai food (I ate it three meals a day for five years!) and I can tell that these people know what they are doing. I could tell they made everything fresh, including their curry paste (the green curry was excellent), and they cooked each item just right--crisp but tender and hot. This is a family operation. Amorn is the husband and Ning, the wife, is the cook. "Ning" means "still" (as in "sitting still") but Ning certainly wasn't still when she made our meal. Go Ning! The interior of the place was pleasant and clean with very nice solid wood tables and chairs-- they must've gotten all new furniture since Heidi's review. The service was great and they very quickly served our party of eight people. If I had more reason to go to Mountlake Terrace, I'm sure I'd be eating there much more frequently. I have to admit I didn't check the bathroom. I usually do that to see what a place's cleanliness standards are. But then again, Thai bathrooms are usually kind of gross, so I judge them a little differently. Maybe I'll check it out next time.

This was my first time and don't know why I waited. The service and dish where incredible. Hurry and eat here they'll be on vacation June 26 to Sept 6
(5)Steven S.
I LOVE this place! not not because they're close to my house, not because their prices are great, but because they're consistently great, we eat there almost every week, and if we're having friends visit we'll usually take them there or just order to go(we have kids). Everything I've had there is great with the exception of the wide rice noodles(i think they put to much fish sauce in) which i think I'm alone on because most other people love it, and lately I've noticed the they been putting more broccoli in the swimming Rama (which usually doesn't have any at all) so i would just order it without. but the spring rolls & mango sticky rice (seasonal) are amazing, even if you're full get it, if they have fresh young mango's available. Also the service was excellent!
(4)Meghan K.
The boy and I stopped here for some take out pad thai since this place is located right next to his house and comes highly recommended by him. We got one order of chicken pad thai and it was more than enough for both of us. We were blissfully stuffed. This is some of the best pad thai I've had in the area! We also got the spring rolls, and while they were okay, I wouldn't order those again. While we were waiting for our food the gentleman working gave us water to drink which was awesome. I will definitely be back for some delicious food and would love to dine in and try other items on the menu.

Amorn Thai has the best lunch specials! Their menu in general is amazing but the variety and amount of food you can get for a paltry $6.50 is out of this world! You even get a free salad with lunch! The food will bowl you over. You have to try this restaurant! You will be hooked!. I have lived in Seattle all my life and have eaten Thai food since I was a little kid and I can't think of anyone who compares to Amorn! The owner/ Chef and his wife give you super friendly service, and are always ready to serve you! To the person who gave one star. Firstly it doesn't matter if you didn't eat all the rice... its not like they can resell it. Secondly clearly there was a language barrier, so instead of calling them terrible names, why don't you at least chalk it up to a miss communication. These are the sweetest people in the world, and they wouldn't cheat anyone. What was obviously clear to them, was that you ordered brown rice. You may have meant substitution, but thats not what they understood. When I spoke to him, Amorn, the owner and chef said he gave you extra meat in your dish. He was hurt and startled by your one star reaction. He takes great pride in his food and treating people well. Anyway, Amorn Thai is the place to go for Thai food! the delicate flavors, the fresh ingredients, the awesome rice. Its a perfect storm of deliciousness! Try everything, but my personal favorite is the Panang with 3 stars of spicy.

A little family owned restaraunt with great food at great prices. The yellow chicken curry is my favorite and the green curry is excellent too. The food is as good as any other Thai establishment I have been to in the area.
(5)G J.
I've been here only once, so take this review for what it is. My chicken with peanut sauce was really good. However it was also very pricey for a lunch menu. All in all with at least another couple of really good Thai places in the area, Amorn Thai is for me only a second choice.
(3)Jamil A.
There is some great Thai food to be had in the greater Seattle area, without a doubt. Amorn is one of my favorites. The owners are always friendly and a joy to interact with and their food is superb. Subtle spices and always fresh. They take a vacation to go back home (good for them, right?) in the summer time and I have to eat sub-par Thai in the area or drive to Seattle for anything that compares for a couple of months.
(5)Laura Z.
I love Thai food! More specifically spicy Thai food. I ordered a bowl of Tom Ka Gai with 4 stars and it was delicious! I need to go back and try some more dishes though. The coconut milk in the soup does cancel out a lot of the spice so next time I am going to order it with 5 stars.
(4)Courtney C.
I would say that this is one of my top five places to go and definitely the best Thai food in all of Seattle. Mountlake terrace is lucky to have it! The food is wonderful - there are great vegetarian options, and the owners are extremely friendly and accommodating.
(5)Janelle L.
Great Thai and wonderful service! I've been here twice and thoroughly enjoyed everything that we've ordered. They've passed all my personal challenges - peanut sauce (excellent), phad thai (tasty), rice noodles (fresh, well done), and their heat levels are right on. I'm still exploring the menu, but highly recommend their coconut ice cream and anything with the house sauce (garlicky goodness).
(4)J D.
I've only eaten Thai food one time before and was not impressed. This place is a small family owned restaurant that has a welcoming feel. Everything from the appetizers to the salads to the entrees were delicious. Lunch is a fair price - $6.50 or so, but beware, they don't do lunch on Sundays so expect to pay a bit more, which is the reason for the 4 stars. Overall, definitely worth the time/money.
(4)Kristi S.
I love Amorn Thai!!! I have only had take out, so I can't comment on the dining experience, however the owners are so friendly I can't imagine it being bad. Everything I have tried has been delicious and fresh. I am very grateful Thai Amorn opened up in MLT.
(4)Lynsey N.
A quick update to my previous review: We were back in here recently and they do serve alcohol now! They had a very impressive wine list, especially for a Thai restaraunt. The owner was very knowledgable and helpful with the wine selections, and the prices were very reasonable.
(4)howard g.
very happy to see so many people in love with this place. we stumbled across it one day since out "other" thai place was closed. well needless to say we have not been back to the "other" since. amorn ( the owner) and his wife ning are the friendliest people around and are very proud of the restuarant they have built. the food is allways amazing, the noodles are allways perfect and the curries are perfect. having recently returned from 2 1/2 weeks in southern thailand both amorn and ning were so happy to see us and wanted to hear all about our trip.
(5)tina r.
Family run and fantastic food. I try something new every time and have yet to find something I dont like. The people who run the place go out of their way to make us happy. Tons of food price is a tad high. I go as often as I can.
(4)H T.
The food was alright, very inexpensive which is a plus and had excellent service. Probably won't go here again for a thai fix unless someone askes me to. Overall, not the best I've had but not the worst.
(3)Jaclyn S.
My boyfriend and I have had it twice now. The Phad Thai is different from most places but surprisingly good. We tried the Red Curry which I thought was a little bland, but also tried the Panang Curry which tasted how I usually like my red curry to taste, it was delicious! I really hope this place does well, I haven't seen too many people there when I go but its great Thai food (which can be hard to find) with really sweet family running it.
